Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi visited Akita Offshore Wind Farm

On Saturday 17 June, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, together with 9 ambassadors to Japan from countries including emerging and developing ones, visited Akita Offshore Wind Farm which has been in commercial operation since January this year. This visit was guided by Keiji Okagaki, President and CEO.
The visit was arranged as part of a new initiative by Ministry of Foreign Affairs titled “Local to Global” Project that aims to promote the attractiveness of regional areas of Japan to ambassadors to Japan, and 9 ambassadors from Paraguay, Mexico, South Africa, Liberia, Norway, Bulgaria, Laos, Sri Lanka and India participated.
Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi responded to interviews of the press. He commented that he had made a visit with great interest and stressed the necessity of taking measures against climate change issues among the entire international community. Also commented that Ministry of Foreign Affairs would make sure to transmit the initiative of clean energy led by Akita worldwide.
